This CD Re-writer was bought for my 15 year old daughter by her big brother. When we got it out of the box I couldnt believe how cute it was although it is a bit "chunky". My daughter has a 4 year old laptop and only USB1 and windows 98 so needed to install a driver. The ancient cd drive could not load up the CD (this is not unusual) but we obtained a driver very easily from the website and intalled the nero programme as supplied also very easily. Nero is very easy to use and you can do all sorts with it from just copying your CDs (very useful if you want to keep the originals in good condition) to compiling your own music disks and backing up all your files (we saved all our important files on CD-R when we reformatted our computer) An added bonus for my daughter is that the Pikaone can be used as a CD drive (much needed as ours is very old and worn out, though it is a bit noisy when starting up) and as a CD player (You have to use headphones or a set of plug-in speakers for this). I dont know how we managed without it. I hope this review has been helpful to you.

Nice bargain |

When I have received my Ripcase CDRW Drive. I was quite surprised by the good looking of this product. It is small (for a product of his prize), with a nice simple design, and light. All the installation CDs are well labelled and the installation is very easy (Im not a professionnal about informatics); you have just to follow the guide lines for the Quick installation. Moreover, the manual (on CD-Rom) and the sheets of paper for the Quick Installation are in several languages (which is nice for me because English is not my mother tongue). I have put some video data on CDs and all was going nice and easy, even if my computer doesnt have an USB2. Its just taken 20 minutes to burn a CD with my USB1.1. Nero Express is very, very easy to use. So, I recommend highly this item which is cheap and very good for his purpose.

Excellent!! |
Ordered this as a bolt on to my laptop which has Windows 2000.Had been looking for an external one in the shops, cheapest I could find was about £80. Internal ones seem to be cheaper. Following the simple instructions to install software I had no problems. Using the Nero software which comes with it, burning a cd is very easy. A wizard guides you through the process. Dont have much to compare this with, but it really did seem to be very fast. 40 Megs of pictures wrote to a CDR disk in about 50 seconds. I would highly recommend this CDRW drive because of its ease of use, its good price & its speed. Oh, & its not as big as it looks in the picture.
